“Seth and I are too old now to not write that way.” Such a nod of recognition. With you and for you the whole way through, Amber. Couldn’t be more excited for the book.
Thank you for writing this out. I am so sorry for all the pain, yet deeply grateful that your former church did what needed to be done. Eventually. We are now ‘churching’ on line each week with the WNC and are moved to tears almost every week. I am sure they are not perfect - no church is. Far from it! But they are doing a whole lotta things right and it has helped so much to see it being done that way. (I, too, loved parenting teens and young adults!)
I wish to complain that the pre-ordering process took nearly a full minute. This was entirely too slow to grant my enthusiasm full expression, so I lit a small fire in my coffee mug and danced around it. Turns out I’m not supposed to do that in my office...
(Ok, so maybe that’s not exactly what happened. But I sure am excited to read more from you guys.)
Over the moon for this! Cannot WAIT to read it. Put me on the short list of shouters-from-rooftops. Your motherlove essay is still reverberating in powerful ways, btw. I'm hearing from people about it all the time - what a gift it is for us to share your words.
Well today happened to suck, and I am wishing I had your book on my nightstand right now. Will be ordering as soon as my Lenten fast from ‘ordering all of the things’ is over. Thank you for the grit. And yes. Too old to not write that way. Same.
I’m so excited to see another of your books! And the subject matter resonates so, SO much with me, even if the details are a little different.
I loved how you wrote here, “Sometimes the first step is saying a thing out loud. Sometimes we help others in despair by making space for them to speak and by merely reflecting back to them the proper and right emotions of sorrow and anger.” I wrote something last week along exactly this, but I’ve been sitting on it... maybe testing my words? Reading this, though, gives me courage.

I like that our Cairns are the firsts on the scene here ;)
Totally thought the same thing! Nobody fiercer for cheering each other on.
You guys are the best. Thank you.
This whole letter feels and reads like grace. Proud of you, friend. I can’t wait to read your words.
Thank you, Morgan. You were there for so much. Love you.

Haley! This means a lot coming from you. <3
Can you hear me cheering all the way from NY?! Yes yes yes.
Same, same, same.
